Default Help with a begginer producer please

Whatsup I am a pretty big wu fan and I'm very interested in learning how to produce some beats. But I don't know the first thing about production, can someone give me some tips on hardware and software that would be good for making some beats nothin too fancy just to get started? p.s. sorry if this is in the wrong forum I didn't know where to put it.

FL studio = Fruity Loops studio.

You can download it from P2P programmes (eg: Kazaa) you might also have to download a Key for the programme you can also download one from the same prgramme.

Once you have Fl studio Search for some Refull packs (samples) so you have alot of beats to play around with and learn

Get some good speakers (10 inch - 15 inch), also check for Kinetic. Get a good mic. If you want to go further try get a good mixer (Yamaha - maybe 8 channel), with that you might need an amp. But the basics are what the others have mentioned. Also have a decent PC (P4) with enough RAM (512MB) or higher. If you need one get a good bass guitar.

Is there a cheaper sampler out there thats still decent? I really can't afford the Zoom ST-224 right now, if theres not, thats okay I'd just like to know. Quality of sound doesn't have to be perfect, I like the dirty quality on 36 chambers so I can put up with it for now.

I suggest getting a hold of Reason 3. It's about $450 and you'll also need Recycle 2 for about $150. I'm not sure what your budget is but these programs give about everything you need except for live recording. As long as you have a midi keyboard you can get just about any sound that's in your head out of your speakers w/ some practice. I would suggest avoiding any program that is loop-based (fruity-loops being 1) just because you're limited to somebody's loops. Reason allows you to do whatever you want pretty much. But it really comes down to talent and dedication. I've read the Kanye West made one of his beats(not sure which) with fruity loops, so I suppose its not worthless but I'd say Reason is by far the most bang for your buck. And I would stay away from hardware in this day and age just because of cost. If you do a google search for reason 3 on google it'll take you to the propellarhead website which will let you download a trial version of reason just to check it out. good luck with it. peace
