Watched this film and the sequel today, and its decent and funny at times, but the acting is dire from Ice Cube( not a huge problem in a comedy film imo, but you would still expect some sort of quality, dude looks like he forgot his lines most of the time lol) and the funny moments were too repetetive or too inconsistent.

If you wanna compare it to other slapstick African American comedy films, stuff like "How High" and "Soul Plane" was quality

i'm not a huge fan (the first 'friday' is the shit though)...but the appeal is obvious...they're stoner movies...that alone crosses boundaries of race and class...plus everybody knows guys like smokey and dede, or is that guy...everybody knows a deebo...like the characters are hood but they're defining characteristics are universal.

plus it's got john witherspoon who kills in everything.

they are like the modern 'cheech and chong' movies.

smh at comparing it to soul plane and how high.
