Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys is getting major spins by me these days. Talk about an incredibly textured album full of brilliant harmonized vocals. No wonder it's #2 all time by Rolling Stone mag.

Co-sign on that one.

I'm gonna recommend one of Marvin's lesser known albums, "I Want You". It doesn't have any of his really well known tracks (this is dependant on how well you know his music), but it's great musically. It has a light funky/jazzy feel that's as danceable as it is relaxing, and Gaye's vocals are brilliant as always.

Bad Brains - "Bad Brains"

I'm not really a hardcore punk fan, nor have I listened to much of it, but I really love this album for it's all out craziness and thoughtful vibe. At one point you can be listening to some thrashing stuff and then it completely flips to a mellow reggae track.

Blur - "Parklife"

I'm not sure how well known Blur are in the states, but if you are an open minded music fan then I'm sure you'll be able to appreciate this. Plus, Albarn's satrical/witty lyrics are always great to listen to.

Can - Ege Bamyasi (70's shit has a kind of drum and base feel to it, awesome drumming)
Cos - Viva Boma (dreamy, jazzy, dark, female vocals in french, also 70's)
DR Hooker - The Truth (indescribable good late 60's early 70's? )
Dr. Tree - South Side (hard jazz, funky, ill guitars, 70's again)

You can find all of those by googling blogspot the artist/album name

That's just from a quick scroll through my playlist. Out of those DR Hooker is really a must have (hard to find though)
