Yeah, there are more whites total on welfare, but percentage wise(take into account their lower population), there are more blacks on it. I think all people are looked down on welfare, not just blacks.

I'm gonna post ya'll some statistics about black men that are terrible that Bill Cosby has in his book Come On People. When i read the statistics, i shook my head because the statistics are very sad but true. Black men have nobody to blame but themselves for the statistics being what they are but i think Bill and educated blacks and whites need to stop saying that black men are lazy and they don't want a job and they'd rather be drug dealers, criminals, rappers, NBA and NFL athletes because all black men aren't like that. Like i said before, Bill should know that it isn't easy to get a job and there are some jobs that still discriminate against black men. Most jobs would hire black women before they would hire black men because i think that black men scare white job supervisors LOL. Plus the fact that a lot of immigrants are coming to america everyday and white job supervisors would hire them before they would hire black men. Immigrants take the jobs that black men don't want which is also a factor as to why there's more immigrants that are working than black men.


I also think it's wrong that immigrants that own businesses in the ghetto would only hire their people instead of blacks especially when they make a lot of money off of blacks. Blacks need to stop buying stuff from immigrants since immigrants won't hire them.

Here's the statistics about black men from Bill's Come On People book.


1. Homicide is the #1 cause of death for black men between 15 and 29 years of age and has been for decades.
2. Of the 16,000 homicides in this country each year, more than half are committed by black men. A black man is 7 times more likely to commit a murder than a white man and 6 times more likely to be murdered.
3. 94% of all blacks who are murdered are murdered by other blacks.
4. The life expectancy at birth of black men is 69 years old compared to 75 years old for white men.
5. In the past several decades, the suicide rate among young black men has increased more than 100%.
6. In some cities, black males have high school dropout rates of more than 50%.
7. Young black men are twice as likely to be unemployed as white, hispanic and asian men.
8. Although blacks make up just 12% of the population, they make up 44% of the prison population.
9. At any given time, as many as 1 in 4 young black men are in the criminal justice system.
10. By the time they reach their mid 30's, 6 outta 10 black high school dropouts have spent time in prison.
11. About 1/3 of the homeless are black men.

I am not an expert on Bill Cosby. But from what I've read from him and about him and from the interviews I've watched, I get the impression that Bill Cosby wants black Americans to take responsibilities for themselves. In this respect, I think Bill Cosby is usually saying the right things and is trying to get black people to have a positive attitude. It really all boils down to having a positive attitude. And self-responsibility. When you take on the responsibility to raise your children correctly, pay the bills, keep your family together with both a mother and father there, etc. then everything else in life just falls into place.

I think that many other black leaders preach the wrong message. That if you are a struggling black it is because of the way the system is setup and because you are a victim. This message does not teach someone to own up to their own shortcomings and take responsibility for their own failures. There are lots of black men in prison and lots of black men not around for their children. Is that someone else's fault?

Bill Cosby is a good man in my opinion. He preaches SELF empowerment. Empower your self. Stop blaming OTHERS for YOUR problems that you usually bring upon yourself whether you like to admit it or not. Most successful people in this country played by the rules and it paid off. How many people do you know who sell drugs and became rich off of it? It might last for a couple months even a year or two but eventually the card house collapses. Someone gets shot stabbed the fuck up or busted or you lose your connect etc. etc.

And I disagree with Charles Jones first post. I believe that there are LOTS of jobs. You just have to be willing to start at the bottom and work your way up. And you have to have a POSTIIVE attitude about your job. When you just show up and punch the clock, the boss notices. When you show up early and leave late and take PRIDE in your work even if that means you are just mopping a fucking floor, if you mop that floor the best you can and are grateful and appreciate opportunities, employers are going to appreciate having someone with a mature positive attitude around. That is what makes businesses better. Not someone who does the bare minimum and just arrogantly thinks that mopping a floor is beneath them.

And yeah I guess a lot of blacks do start hustling at a young age? Why? Because they grow up idolizing Lil Wayne and Jay Z and Scarface. Maybe they didn't have a REAL MAN such as a FATHER around to teach them what it really takes to be a man and to get ahead in this world. Hard work and respect. Fucking off during 13 years of public education doesn't help either. Put your crackberry down and hit the fucking books. Not everybody makes it as a drug dealer, a rapper, or an athlete. Face the fucking reality of that and prepare yourself with an education and skills to fall back upon. And getting a job today is hard for everyone no matter what color you are.

But then again, I'm just a privileged white guy in his 20s on the outside looking in so what the fuck do I know? I'm not even sure of what EXACT privileges I have that you do not have. How am I privileged as a white person? With all the affirmative action going around lately I might even be at a disadvantage in 2010. I don't want to bother arguing about it.

Sense-A, i agree with most of what you said. It's interesting you say that a person is supposed to take pride in their job no matter what they do. I know you see the ignorant comments on here dissing me about my job profession. Some people on here diss me because i'm a porter/janitor at my 2 jobs. I'm not happy about having those job positions but at least i'm working and i can't expect myself to have a good job when i have a high school diploma. I didn't go to college so i could have a chance at getting a good job. So i have myself to blame for the jobs i have but the reason i didn't go to college is because i don't like school. I don't diss nobody for the jobs they have. I don't laugh at people who work at McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's, grocery stores, janitors/housekeepers, 7 Eleven, Walmart, Target, dollar stores, factories. I know these jobs pay shitty money but at least the people who have these jobs are working because there's a lot of blacks who are unemployed. I know there's more blacks than whites who are unemployed.



See that's the difference between immigrants and blacks. Immigrants will work at those jobs i named and blacks won't because blacks think those jobs are beneath them and they think the pay is shitty which it is. But when you don't have a college degree, what type of job do you think you're gonna get? This is the reality that blacks don't wanna think about. They think they're just supposed to show up at a job and fill out a application or give their resume and a job is supposed to hire them hahahahahahahahaha. That's not how it works in the job world and poor blacks need to realize that. I used to think just like poor blacks when i first started looking for a job when i graduated from high school. I felt like if i showed up at a job and filled out a application that a job was supposed to hire me. But when my phone wasn't ringing often about a job, i got mad and i was wondering why nobody was calling me.


When you're trying to get a job, you have to impress the supervisor meaning you have to wear the right clothes and talk proper. Unemployed blacks don't realize this either. Sometimes i used to show up to job interviews wearing whatever i wanted and you can't do that. But the thing that upsets me about jobs is that jobs most of the time are looking for people who have experience for the position they're hiring for. But how is unemployed people supposed to get some experience when they can't get the job? That's not right.

Someone I know worked at a grocery store for 10 years. He went from shelf stocker, to grocery manager, to assistant manager, to manager in 10 years. He makes more than college graduates and more than I do. Always took his job serious and was just a dependable person. Also, my past congressman has no college education. He worked at the fucking piggly wiggly grocery store and went on to become congressman. So yeah, a college degree isn't everything.

Here's the problem. People have no respect for each other. We're materialistic. We don't understand that every rich man only exists because of the dozens of people who aren't making the same money.

Janitor is a noble profession. Someone needs to maintain. A Janitor is as important to keeping people healthy as a doctor. If no one cleans up the vomit its just going to sit there and fester. If no one cleans the windows they will no longer function as windows. Custodian is Latin for Guardian. You are a guardian of civilization.

People need to have that kind of pride in what they do. An international businessman is following in the footsteps of the merchants who charted the first trade routes. A man working at a shoe factory is walking in the footsteps of the cobblers who shod the rich and poor alike. Even if you aren't making a ton of money you're doing a service to society. Everyone is a part of society and contributing. You don't have to be the President. Realistically its people like sanitation workers and meat packers who keep us alive. Hell, being a prostitute should be something to be proud of. Go to work with a smile on your face.
