Thread: Roc Marciano appreciation

    Default Roc Marciano appreciation

Over the last couple of years, i've come to appreciate that Roc Marciano is the true embodiment of an artist as a rap musician. He has elevated the craft sonically and lyrically. His music, particularly post Marcberg, has been of a visionary quality and i for one am glad to have basked in this glory. That is all.

"Who am I to knock her, for balling like a Knickerbocker?" is probably one of the greatest lines in the history of rhyming verse. That whole verse would leave Neruda scared and puzzled.

roc marciano, over this beat, makes you forget action bronson even exists, let alone that he just rapped.

i know i already posted this, but the alchemy that is the combination of his verse with this beat, needs reiterating.

i don't even know where to begin with the verses, particularly the second, but it renders all other rappers in this era perfunctory and boring.

the crowd here really appreciates the abundance of jewels, but they probably won't be able to comprehend the head wear or the importance of what they just witnessed for years to come.

Ka probably deserves another thread, but he's pretty much the only mc who can appear on a track with roc marci and not be rendered a complete obscurity instantly.

Pimpire Strikes Back is an instant classic in comparison with anything anyone else did in 2013.... and it was a throwaway, free mixtape.

i guess i understand why action and willy are on this, but they may as well have just said the same word over and over again during their verses. when marciano starts rhyming the verses preceding are obsolete.

Yeah man great album. Marci Beaucoup did have more of a mixtape feel to it. I guess it was probably just sample issues preventing Pimpire Strikes Back being a full album.
